Paintings album published in commemoration of Mao Zedong
SHANGHAI, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- The late Chinese leader, Chairman
Mao Zedong, has for the first time appeared in traditional-style
Chinese paintings in the album "China Has Mao Zedong", which was
published in Shanghai Saturday.
Commissioned by a research institute with the Shanghai
municipal committee of the Communist Party of China, the album has
110 paintings featuring the life and career of the charismatic
leader.
The painter, Yang Hongfu, has been drawing posters of Mao for
factories and schools since the 1970s. It took him eight months to
complete the album.
"He did a very good job in depicting Chairman Mao," said Mao's
daughter-in-law Liu Siqi, after studying the album.
Mao died in 1976, and Dec. 26 this year is the 110th anniversary of his birthday.
