Pakistani PM meets with Liu Hongcai

ISLAMABAD March 29 -- Prime Minister Gilani of the new government of Pakistan stated on the 29th that his government will promote friendly and cooperative relations with China in an all-round way.

Gilani made the above statement when meeting with visiting vice-minister Liu Hongcai of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. Gilani, elected as Prime Minister of the new government of Pakistan, had received confidence vote from all members of the National Assembly before the meeting.

Gilani said that he made a special mentioning of Pakistan-China relations in his first policy program, which shows that the new government pays great attention to relations with China. He said that Pakistan will make efforts to safeguard political stability and improve investment environment and that his government will comprehensively promote friendly and cooperative relations with China and strengthen economic cooperation.

Liu conveyed to Gilani congratulations and greetings from Premier Wen Jiabao. Liu said that it is the consistent policy of the CPC and the Chinese government to constantly consolidate and develop the all-dimensional and all-weather strategic partnership with Pakistan. "The new government of Pakistan has just been established, we know that Your Excellency face a lot of problems calling for urgent solutions. As a friendly neighbor, we sincerely wish stability and development of Pakistan, which is in the fundamental interests of the people in Pakistan." said Liu.

On the same day, Liu attended the ninth Standing Committee meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties held in Islamabad as a CPC representative.
