RABAT, March 30 -- China has put forward
proposals to further intensify China-Africa cooperation especially
in the economic and trade fields, a senior Communist Party of China
(CPC) official said.
Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political
Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the proposals at a
symposium of Chinese and Moroccan entrepreneurs here Thursday.
He suggested the two sides strengthen mutual trust and keep their
eyes on the future, maintaining the good momentum of China-Africa
economic and trade cooperation.
The two sides should maintain high-level exchange of visits and
continue to strengthen exchanges in various fields and continuously
enhance political mutual trust, he added.
Both sides should adhere to the spirits of "mutual benefit,
reciprocity, equality and coordination," and consolidate the
political foundation of the cooperation to ensure that the
China-Africa economic and trade relations further develop in a "good
and fast" way.
Li suggested strengthening guidance and increasing exchanges to
create a more advantageous environment for the development of the
economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa.
The guidance of the government should further be strengthened and
personnel exchanges and the share of information between enterprises
of China and Africa should be intensified, he added.
China will encourage the increase of imports from Africa and
encourage more Chinese enterprises with good reputations, as well as
strengthening investment in Africa, while encouraging more Chinese
to tour Africa to enhance the income of African countries.
He urged both sides to give prominence to major points and create
new ways to push forward rapid development of China-Africa economic
cooperation.
The two sides should bring into full play the strong
interrelationship of the two sides' economies, and perfect the trade
structure between China and Africa and augment the volume of
bilateral trade.
Chinese enterprises should engage in the economic and trade
cooperation with Africa with first-class technology, products and
services, and maintain the principles of fair competition and mutual
benefit, the Chinese official said.
Chinese enterprises operating in Africa should endeavor to build up
a good image of paying attention to reputation and quality and
shoulder social responsibilities such as promoting employment,
improving livelihoods, training personnel and protecting the
environment, he said.
Morocco is the third leg of Li's five-nation tour, which has taken
him to Algeria and Mauritania and will also take him to Tunisia and
Syria.
