BEIJING, April 17 -- Wang Jiarui, a senior official of the Communist
Party of China (CPC), met here on Thursday with Hiromu Nonaka,
former secretary-general of the Japanese Liberal Democratic Party,
and Tetsuma Esaki, deputy secretary-general of the LDP.
Wang, minister of the International Department of the CPC Central
Committee, expressed appreciation for Hiromu Nonaka's efforts to
promote Sino-Japanese friendship.
He said Chinese President Hu Jintao made important remarks on
furthering relations with Japan when he met with a delegation from
the two Japanese ruling parties headed by the LDP Secretary-General
Ibuki Bunmei and Secretary-General of the Komei Party Kitagawa Kazuo
on Wednesday.
China hoped to enhance cooperation with Japan to realize the
agreement of the two sides and push forward bilateral relationship,
Wang said.
Hiromu Nonaka said the Tibet issue was China's internal affairs, and
Japan is opposed to any attempts to boycott the Beijing Olympic
Games by making use of the Tibet issue.
