Ugandan Vice-President Meets with CPC Good-will Delegation

Kampala, April 23 -- Gilbert Bukenya, vice-president of Uganda and vice-chairman for the Central Region of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), met here today with a CPC good-will delegation headed by Fu Sihe, vice-minister of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. The two sides held talks on further strengthening cooperation between the two parties and two governments.

Bukenya said in the meeting that the Ugandan government is always committed to the One-China policy and is shifting the priority of external exchanges from developed countries in the west to countries in the east represented by China. He expressed thanks to China for its selfless assistance to Uganda and other African countries over the years, as well as the hope to learn from China in party building and economic development.

On his part, Fu expressed his gratitude to the vice-president for what he has done to safeguard long-term friendly cooperation between the two governments and two parties. He affirmed that the CPC and the Chinese people highly value the traditional friendship with the NRM and the Ugandan people and hope to bring bilateral friendly cooperation to a higher level.

Fu also met with Amama Mbabazi, minister of security of the Ugandan government and secretary-general of the NRM on 22nd, and held talks with Samali Hyuha, minister without portfolio and deputy secretary-general of the Party, where consensus was reached on deepening party-to-party exchanges and cooperation.

Mbabazi stressed that China-Uganda friendly cooperations are of strategic significance. He said that the CPC had many valuable lessons to offer on how to run the party and the government and that the two parties should increase exchanges.

The six-member CPC delegation visited Uganda from the 21st to 23rd at the invitation of the NRM. Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Sun Heping attended relevant meetings and talks.
