BEIJING, May 30 -- The
Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) is willing to deepen
exchanges with the Vietnamese parliament of each other's experience
in administrative theories and the building of democracy and rule of
law, China's top legislator said on Friday.
"The NPC and the Vietnamese parliament have been maintaining an
all-level and deepened cooperation that pushes forward the relations
between the two countries," said NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu
Bangguo.
During a meeting with the General Secretary of the Communist Party
of Vietnam Central Committee, Nong Duc Manh, Wu said the
China-Vietnam friendship fostered by the leadership of the old
generation, laid a solid political foundation for the development of
bilateral ties.
He said bilateral cooperation in various fields had benefited the
two peoples, and China was ready to promote strategic and
cooperative partnership with Vietnam.
Manh said he was visiting China to enhance mutual understanding and
support, and to discuss with Chinese leaders on ways to strengthen
cooperation in the future.
He also expressed sympathy and condolence to China on the casualties
and property loss suffered in the May 12 earthquake in the southwest
Sichuan Province. He said he believed that brotherly Chinese people
would overcome the natural disaster and rebuild their homes in the
near future.
Manh arrived here on Friday afternoon for a four-day visit. On his
arrival in Beijing, he handed over a list of relief materials
totaling 15 tons. They will be delivered to the quake-hit areas in
