BEIJING, June 1 --
China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin met here Sunday with
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central
Committee Nong Duc Manh.
"The China-Vietnam friendship has brought substantial benefit to
peoples of the two countries," Jia said, highly appraising the
progress in the development of bilateral relations in recent years.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central
Committee and President Hu Jintao and Manh have reached broad
consensus in their talks on promoting the China-Vietnam
comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation. "The Chinese
side will seriously implement the consensus and endeavor for new
development of relations between the two countries as well as the
two parties," Jia said.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's
Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and member of the Standing
Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, also
called for strengthening cooperation and exchanges between the CPPCC
National Committee and Vietnam's Fatherland Front to contribute to
the development of China-Vietnam relations.
Briefing Manh on recent progress in China's earthquake relief, Jia
expressed appreciation for the sympathy and support given by the CPV,
the Vietnamese government and the Vietnamese people.
With the whole nation's joint efforts and international support,
China will surely be able to overcome the earthquake, Jia said.
Manh said during his meeting with Chinese leaders, they reached a
wide range of consensus on further strengthening mutually beneficial
cooperation between the two countries, which created a firm and
solid foundation for enhancing bilateral relations.
He conveyed greetings from leaders of the Fatherland Front and
pledged support to cooperation and exchanges between the Fatherland
Front and the CPPCC National Committee.
After meeting with Jia, Manh left Beijing for Jiangsu Province in
east China, the second leg of his four-day visit.
