BEIJING, June 10 -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) met here Tuesday with a delegation of the American Foreign Policy Council, and the two sides agreed to further promote the China-U.S. constructive and cooperative relationship.

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, spoke highly of the development of China-U.S. relations during a meeting with the delegation, headed by Peter Pace, former chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff.

He said China is willing to work with the United States to further boost the constructive and cooperative relationship from a strategic, long-term perspective.

Pace said the visit has enriched his understanding of China and he will to share his experience with the American people in a bid to deepen the understanding and trust between the two peoples.

The U.S. side also appreciates the important role China has played in the Korean peninsula nuclear issue and hopes to strengthen cooperation with China, Pace said.
