Wang Jiarui meets Sudanese vice president

BEIJING, June 11 -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) met here Wednesday with Sudanese Vice President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, and the two agreed to further party-to-party exchanges.

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, spoke highly of exchanges between the CPC and the National Congress, Sudan's ruling party.

He said the CPC has attached great importance to the development of friendship with the National Congress of Sudan and is ready to promote the China-Sudan relationship through party-to-party exchanges.

Taha hailed the important role played by party-to-party exchanges in promoting bilateral relations and welcomed the CPC to develop relationships with major parties of Sudan.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern in an extensive and in-depth manner.

Wang appreciated the condolences conveyed by the party leaders of the National Congress of Sudan after the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan Province.

He also expressed his deep grief over a Sudanese plane crash at the Khartoum International Airport on June 10.
