BEIJING, June 18 -- A
Communist Party of China (CPC) senior leader on Wednesday said China
was ready to work with Indonesia to expand cooperation in various
fields.
Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political
Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting
with a delegation of Indonesia's Golkar Party. In attendance was the
party's vice chairman Agung Laksono, also the Indonesian House of
Representatives speaker.
Zhou said the two countries enjoyed frequent high level visits and
made comprehensive cooperation in politics, economy, culture and
tourism.
China was ready to work with Indonesia to further cement and expand
cooperation in various fields, to push forward the bilateral
strategic partnership, Zhou said. He thanked Indonesia for adhering
to the one-China policy.
Hailing the party-to-party relations between the two nations, Zhou
said the CPC would make concerted efforts with the Golkar Party and
other friendly political parties of Indonesia to promote the growth
of China-Indonesia relations.
He briefed the guests on the earthquake relief work, expressing
gratitude for Indonesia's assistance. Zhou said China was confident
and capable of winning the fight against the disaster.
Laksono said the growth of bilateral relations accorded with the
fundamental interests of both nations. The Golkar Party was willing
to increase cooperation with the CPC to promote the development of
the Indonesia-China strategic partnership.
He extended sympathy for the Chinese people in the quake-hit region
and wished success for the Beijing Olympic Games.
Wang Jiarui, minister of the International Department of the CPC
Central Committee, also met with Laksono and his delegation. The two
sides agreed to increase party-to-party exchanges and cooperation.
