Wang Qishan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central
Committee and deputy premier of the State Council, met in Suifenhe,
Heilongjiang Province on October 9th, a delegation of the United
Russia Party led by Alexander Zhukov, member of the Standing
Committee of the Supreme Council of the United Russia Party and
deputy prime minister of the Russian Federal Government, who was in
China for the Second Session of the Forum on Sino-Russian Political
Parties.
Wang said that since the establishment of
strategic cooperative partnership between China and Russia, there
has been frequent contact at various levels, including the highest
level. With cooperation in energy, trade, science and technology,
and culture deepening, China-Russia relations are at a new
historical starting point and face new opportunities. The dialogue
mechanism between political parties of the two countries, launched
this year, and the signing of new cooperation agreements and the
memorandum on cooperation has drawn a blueprint for the development
of relations between the two parties. Ruling parties of the two
countries should work hand in hand to tackle the international
financial crisis, promote economic recovery and strengthen
cooperation in the border regions. He hailed the forum an important
platform of exchanges between the two countries and two parties and
wished it a great success.
Zhukov first extended congratulations on the 60th
anniversary of the founding of the PRC and the 60th anniversary of
the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia.
He said that with rapid development of bilateral relations, it is of
great importance to strengthen cooperation between ruling parties.
Ruling parties have great influence on decision-making of the
government, and the two parties should play a more active role in
promoting trade and other pragmatic cooperation between the two
countries.
Also present at the Forum were Wang Jiarui,
minister of the International Department of the CPC Central
Committee, Ji Bingxuan, secretary of the CPC Heilongjiang provincial
committee, Li Zhanshu, governor of Heilongjiang Province, Sheng
Guangzu, minister of the General Administration of Customs and Zhang
Guobao, deputy chairman of the National Development and Reform
Commission and head of the National Energy Administration.
