BEIJING, January 10 -- Minister Wang Jiarui of the International
Department of the CPC Central Committee met in Beijing on the
afternoon of January 9 with the delegation of the American Foreign
Policy Council headed by Richard Myers, former Chairman of the Joint
Chiefs of Staff.
Wang said that both China and the US bear heavy weights in the
world. Cooperate and we both win. Fight and we both suffer. The year
2012 is crucial and sensitive year for China-US relations. It is
China's hope that the US will keep in mind the overall and long-term
interests of bilateral relations, clear away disturbances in
domestic politics and work with the Chinese side to promote the
building of the cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and
mutual benefit.
On his part, Myers said that the US takes seriously its relations
with China and that closer cooperation between the two sides not
only conforms to the interests of both countries, but is also
beneficial for peace and development of the world.
