President of Equatorial Guinea Meets with Wang Jiarui

Malabo, January 22nd --- Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, president of Equatorial Guinea, met here today with a delegation of Communist Party of China led by Wang Jiarui, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

Obiang said that his country, while regarding China as a close brother and partner, appreciates the long-term support and help from China to the development of Equatorial Guinea. Equatorial Guinea is willing to enhance cooperation with China and the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) hopes to further consolidate relationship with the CPC, said Obiang.

Wang said that since China and Equatorial Guinea established diplomatic ties, people from both countries have been supporting each other through thick and thin; the China-Equatorial Guinea relationship is entitled to be regarded as a model of solidarity and mutual support between developing countries. China stands ready to work with Equatorial Guinea to implement consensus reached at the Johannesburg Summit of FOCAC (Forum on China-Africa Cooperation) and bring China-Equatorial Guinea comprehensive cooperative partnership to a new high; the CPC is willing to intensify friendship with the PDGE and promote exchanges of governance experiences, said Wang.

Wang also conducted work discussions with Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro, secretary-general of the PDGE, during his visit.
