Song Tao Meets with Afghan Guest
 ( 2016.05.16 )

May 16th, Beijing--- Minister Song Tao of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met here today with Abdullah Abdullah, CEO of Afghanistan and president of National Coalition of Afghanistan.

Song said that the friendship between China and Afghanistan enjoys a long history, and the bilateral relations have ushered into a new era since strategic partnership was established in 2012. There can be no development without peace and stability. China supports the “Afghan-led, Afghan-owned” peace and reconciliation process and hopes that relevant parties in Afghanistan can reach political consensus on an early date so as to realize broad and inclusive political reconciliation. We are happy to witness the progress achieved since the founding of national unity government. The Communist Party of China stands ready to enhance party-to-party exchanges with major Afghan political parties including the National Coalition of Afghanistan, fully play a political guiding role and promote more China-Afghanistan cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road initiative, so as to contribute to common development, said Song.

Abdullah said that China is the biggest neighbouring country of Afghanistan and friendship between the two countries is solid. China has always been on the side of Afghan people and the two countries share the same view and vision on many topics. The National Coalition of Afghanistan and other Afghan political parties, which value party-to-party ties with the CPC and expect to draw on from its governance experience, will create even more opportunities for further cooperation, said Abdullah.

They also exchanged ideas thoroughly on topics including fighting against terrorism.
