Song Tao Meets with ANP President of Myanmar

Yangon, August 13th--Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met here today with President Aye Maung of the Arakan National Party (ANP) of Myanmar.

Song expressed that China treasures the traditional paukphaw friendship between the two countries, and supports Myanmar to achieve national reconciliation at an early date. China is willing to deepen cooperation with Myanmar on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, so as to promote better development of all areas in Myanmar. The CPC pays attention to developing friendly ties with the ANP, and is willing to continuously deepen communication and cooperation between the two parties.

Aye Maung said that the ANP regards the CPC as a close and friendly cooperation partner, and hopes to further intensify exchanges with the CPC. The Rakhine State is one of the most impoverished and backward states in Myanmar. The ANP expects China to increase investment and help the state enhance infrastructure construction and achieve rapid development.
