Wang Yajun Leads IDCPC Delegation to Visit Myanmar

From April 21st to 25th, Wang Yajun, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) headed a delegation to visit Myanmar, during which he met with U Phyo Min Thein, member of the Central Executive Committee of the National League for Democracy and Chief Minister of Yangon Region and U Sein Win Aung, Chairman of the Myanmar-China Friendship Association, held talks with representatives from Chinese-funded enterprises in Myanmar, news media, culture agencies and non-governmental organizations, and visited the upgraded project of War Ba Lauk Thauk Hospital aided and built by China. The delegation also visited Kyaukpyu in Rakhine State, met with Chief Minister of Kyaukpyu and other principal officials  of Kyaukpyu and representatives from non-governmental organizations, visited local peasant households, inspected the Kyaukpyu Special Economic Zone, China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline project and discussed with heads of CITIC Construction and CNPC Southeast Asia Pipeline Company.

Speaking positively of the achievements of China-Myanmar relations, Wang expressed that China and Myanmar are linked by mountains and rivers and enjoy profound Paukphaw friendship. The development of bilateral relations especially cooperation in key projects is conducive to the common interest of both sides. It is hoped that the two countries will well implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, further strengthen exchanges, cooperation and coordination, lead two peoples to comprehensively and objectively view the great changes brought to both sides in the economic and social development and improvement on people's livelihood due to bilateral cooperation and push forward relevant cooperation steadily so as to better benefit people of the two countries.

The Myanmar side appreciated China's support for Myanmar's efforts in national reconciliation, economic and social development and improving people's livelihood. Attaching great importance to Myanmar-China relations, Myanmar supports and is willing to actively participate in the "Belt and Road" construction and attract more Chinese-funded enterprises to invest and establish business in Myanmar. The country will actively coordinate relevant departments, local governments and other forces to work jointly with China to promote practical cooperation including cooperation in major projects and continuously deepen friendship between Myanmar and China.
