Athens, June 12th-- Prime Minister and President of Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) Alexis Tsipras of Greece met here today on the afternoon with Han Zhen, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee.

Han conveyed warm greetings from General Secretary Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to Tsipras. He said that in recent years, China and Greece have constantly made new development in bilateral relations, conducted frequent bilateral high-level exchanges, achieved fruitful outcomes in economic and trade cooperation, and constantly expanded non-governmental friendship. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, and China is willing to, together with Greece, enhance the integration of development strategies, and promote practical cooperation in various fields under the “Belt and Road” framework, in a bid to elevate China-Greece comprehensive strategic partnership to higher levels. High valuing the inter-party relations with SYRIZA of Greece, the CPC stands ready to continuously enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two parties, and jointly promote China-Greece relations for better development.

Tsipras asked Han to convey his best wishes to General Secretary Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. He said that attaching great importance to developing its relations with China, Greece is willing to take the construction of the “Belt and Road” as an opportunity, conduct more dialogues and cooperation with China in promoting development, global governance and other topics. The SYRIZA hopes to strengthen experience exchange in state governance and administration with the CPC, so as to push Greece-China practical cooperation in various fields for more outcomes.

At the invitation of SYRIZA, the CPC delegation headed by Han visited Greece from June 11th to 13th, during which Han met respectively with Nikos Voutsis, Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament and Yiorgos Kaminis, Mayor of Athens, witnessed the signing ceremony of memorandum of understanding on  friendly cooperation and exchanges between Athens and Shanghai, attended the “New Oriental Chinese Music Scene” special concert marking the establishment of the 45th anniversary of China-Greece diplomatic relations, and inspected the Piraeus Port project of China Ocean Shipping Company.
