Song Tao Meets with Member of NLD Central Executive Committee of Myanmar and Chief Minister of Yangon Region

Yangon, August 5th--Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met here today with Phyo Min Thein, member of the Central Executive Committee of the National League for Democracy (NLD) of Myanmar and Chief Minister of Yangon Region.

Song said that China and Myanmar enjoy high economic complementarities and broad prospects for cooperation. Under the “Belt and Road” framework, China is willing to strengthen strategic synergy, advance practical cooperation, and boost exchanges at the local level with Myanmar, so as to realize common development. The CPC stands ready to, together with NLD, strengthen friendly exchanges and promote cooperation in people’s livelihood and other fields, in a bid to further benefit the two peoples.

Phyo Min Thein expressed that the Myanmar side supports the “Belt and Road” construction, and has full expectations for the prospects of Myanmar-China cooperation. Myanmar welcomes China to participate in the economic and social construction in Myanmar regions including Yangon. The NLD stands ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC to lay solid political and public opinion foundations for Myanmar-China relations.
