Song Tao Meets with Former Philippine President and APCU Chairman

Beijing, November 8th--Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, former President of the Philippines and Chairman of the Association for Philippines-China Understanding (APCU).

Song comprehensively introduced the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, and expressed that the historical achievement China has made since the 18th CPC National Congress lies in the strong leadership of the CPC with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core. The re-election of Comrade Xi Jinping as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, the establishment of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the new action guideline for the CPC, as well as all strategic deployment set forth at the 19th CPC National Congress will definitely promote the CPC to lead China to achieve new historical results in securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and in realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

Speaking positively of Arroyo’s important contributions to advancing the development of China-Philippines relations, Song thanked Arroyo for her high attention and sound wishes to the 19th CPC National Congress. Song noted that China is willing to further enhance friendly exchanges and cooperation between political parties of the two countries as well as at non-governmental level, strengthen the political leading role in China-Philippines relations, and consolidate the public opinion foundation of the development of China-Philippines relations.

Arroyo spoke highly of the historical significance of the successful convening of the 19th CPC National Congress, and believed that it will certainly open a new era for China’s development. Arroyo expressed that she will continue making new contributions to promoting friendly exchanges between political parties of the two countries as well as between non-governmental organizations, and to the development of Philippines-China relations.
