Song Tao Holds Talks with Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK Workers’ Party

Pyongyang, November 18th—Song Tao, Special Envoy of General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping and Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee held talks here today with Ri Su-yong, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK Workers’ Party.

Song briefed on the situation of the 19th CPC National Congress, and expressed that the most historical contribution of the Congress is the establishment of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guiding ideology for the CPC and the enshrinement of Xi Jinping Thought into the Party Constitution. The Congress put forward the goal of building a great modern socialist country by the middle of this century and made strategic arrangement and deployment to this end. This roadmap and timetable greatly inspired passion of the Chinese people, and the unprecedented consensus was reached in the CPC and the whole country. The constant development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era will bring more opportunities for the development of all countries and make greater contributions to safeguarding world peace and stability.

Ri expressed that the DPRK Workers’ Party attaches great importance to the 19th CPC Central Committee. The Congress clarified the historical commissions of the CPC in the new era, confirmed the basic plan and strategy, and put forward the new goal of building a great modern socialist country with Chinese characteristics. Ri extended heartfelt wishes that the Chinese people will achieve great accomplishments in implementing all the tasks deployed at the 19th CPC National Congress.

Both sides also exchanged views on relations between both parties and both countries, exchanges of the external departments of both parties and other issues of common concern.
