Song Tao Meets with PDP–Laban President and Senate President of the Philippines

Beijing, December 1st—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met here today with Aquilino Pimentel III, President of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP–Laban) and Senate President of the Philippines, who was in China for the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting in China.

Song welcomed Pimentel III and his delegation to attend the high-level meeting. Song said that since its establishment, it is the first time for the CPC to hold a high-level dialogue with various kinds of political parties in world, which is of important historic, epoch-making and global significance. China and the Philippines are good neighbors across the sea, and the two peoples are good brothers who share close bloodline. Since the administration of the PDP–Laban, China and the Philippines have enjoyed frequent high-level exchanges, comprehensively conducted bilateral and multilateral cooperation, properly handled maritime differences, and further consolidated the foundation of bilateral friendship, thus turning over a new leaf for bilateral relations. The CPC is willing to work with the PDP–Laban to actively implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and enhance strategic communication and political guidance, so as to elevate China-Philippines strategic cooperative partnership which commits to peace and development to new stages.

Pimentel III expressed that Rodrigo Duterte, PDP–Laban Chairman and President of the Philippines entrusted him to convey his sincere greetings to General Secretary Xi Jinping, and warmly congratulated the CPC on holding this grand meeting of global political parties. The CPC can be a model for political parties of various countries in the world in that it has made remarkable achievements in promoting national economic and social development as well as in strengthening self-construction. The PDP–Laban stands ready to strengthen communication and cooperation between the two parties in cadre training and other fields, and learn from the CPC’s advanced experience in party governance and state administration. The Philippine side stands ready to, together with China, intensify coordination, constantly deepen friendly cooperation, and push forward bilateral relations for constant and positive development, in a bid to expand the common interests of both countries and the region.
