Song Tao Meets with DPRK’s WPK Friendship Visiting Group

Beijing, May 14th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) met here today with a friendship visiting group of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) led by Pak Thae Song, Member of the Political Bureau and Vice-Chairman of the WPK Central Committee.

Song expressed that General Secretary Xi Jinping and Chairman Kim Jong-un have met twice in the last one-odd month, charting the course for the development of China-DPRK relations in the new period. China is willing to, together with the DPRK’s comrades, well implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two parties, intensify high-level exchanges, deepen strategic communication and enhance communication and cooperation in such various fields as agriculture, education, science and technology as well as people-to-people and cultural engagement. China highly values and warmly welcomes the DPRK’s WPK friendship visiting group to visit China.

Pak Thae Song said that the top leaders of the WPK and the CPC held historic meetings, bringing DPRK-China relations into a new development stage. As the first batch of friendship visiting group to China sent by the WPK, the group is undertaking the glorious mission of implementing the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two parties, and expects to inspect and learn China’s experience and achievements in economic construction and reform and opening up.

IDCPC Vice-ministers Xu Lyuping, Li Jun, Wang Yajun and Qian Hongshan, as well as IDCPC Assistant-minister Shen Beili attended the meeting.
