Song Tao Meets with Deputy Secretary of the General Council of the URP

Shenzhen, May 27th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Sergey Zheleznyak, Deputy Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia Party (URP).

Song expressed appreciation and gratitude to Zheleznyak, who was on behalf of the URP, for making a special trip to Shenzhen and attending the first Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Political Parties Forum and a special promotion conference on “Story of the CPC—Practice of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in Guangdong”. He believed that it fully shows the sound relations between the ruling parties of China and Russia. Song expressed that under the personal promotion of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, China-Russia relations have been running at a high level. The CPC is willing to intensify in-depth exchanges and cooperation in various fields with the URP, and jointly give play to the role of political guidance for the development of China-Russia relations.

Zheleznyak congratulated on the complete success of the first SCO Political Parties Forum and the special promotion conference on the story of the CPC. He spoke positively of China’s historical achievements in reform and opening up over the past four decades. He noted that the URP and the CPC, as ruling parties of the two countries, shoulder the political responsibilities of implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and promoting the development of Russia-China relations. The URP will continue enhancing all-round cooperation with the CPC, and make new contributions to the development of Russia-China relations based on a higher level of inter-party cooperation.

Both sides also exchanged extensive and in-depth views on the positive outcomes of the first SCO Political Parties Forum and the future development. The two sides agreed to be jointly committed to pushing forward the institutionalization of the SCO Political Parties Forum.
