Song Tao Meets with Former President of Tanzania

Beijing, July 25th--Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met here today on the evening with Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, former President of Tanzania and Board Member of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, who was in China for a visit and the attendance at the 5th China-Africa People’s Forum. The ambassadors to China from 7 countries of Southern African Development Community, including Angola, Botswana and Tanzania, attended the meeting.

Song expressed the appreciation to the Chama Cha Mapinduzi and the government of Tanzania for their support for the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting Africa Thematic Event. The CPC and the Chinese government attach great importance to China-Africa relations and support the African countries to pursue development paths suited to their national conditions. The CPC will further promote the exchanges and cooperation among the political parties, political organizations and non-governmental organizations of China and Africa to inject more new impetus into the development of China-Africa relations.

Kikwete appreciated the help and support that the CPC and the Chinese government given to Tanzania and other African countries. China’s experience in reform and opening-up and the achievements in agricultural development, poverty alleviation and other areas are worth learning by the African countries. The Tanzanian side is willing to make contributions to promoting Africa-China friendship, non-governmental exchanges and practical cooperation in agriculture and other areas.
