Beijing, September 1st--Mokgweetsi Masisi, President of Botswana and Chairman of Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), who was in China for the FOCAC Beijing Summit, visited the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and met with Song Tao, Minister of the IDCPC on the afternoon.

Song Tao said that President Xi Jinping had successful talks with President Masisi and reached an important consensus and charted the course for the further development of the relations between the two countries and the two parties. The CPC and the BDP have maintained friendly exchanges and cooperation for a long time, and attached great importance to the development of the relations between both parties. Under the current situation, our two parties face similar governance tasks and external challenges. And strengthening inter-party exchanges and cooperation has important epochal significance. We are willing to work with the BDP to continue to deepen the political leading role of China-Botswana relations and promote cooperation in various fields in accordance with the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and you, in a bid to jointly build a closer community with a shared future between China and Africa.

Masisi said that he had a high degree of trust with President Xi Jinping and the talks between them were successful. The BDP attaches great importance to the friendly exchanges and cooperative relations with the CPC, highly appreciates the rich connotation and fruitful results of the exchanges and cooperation between the two parties, and sincerely admires the great achievements and governance capability of the CPC. The BDP is eager to further strengthen the relations between the two parties and improve the capacity and level in coping with the challenges and in party governance and state administration through the deepening of exchanges of experience in state governance and administration, so as to explore the development path and system with Botswana characteristics.

After the meeting, Song and Mpho Balopi, General Secretary of the BDP, signed a memorandum of understanding on exchanges and cooperation between the two parties.
