Liu Jieyi

  Liu Jieyi, male, ethnic Han, born in December 1957, native of Beijing. Graduate degree, member of the Communist Party of China since February 1987.

  Liu Jieyi began his working career in January 1977 teaching at the Teachers' Training School of Chaoyang District, Beijing. In January 1978 he began to study in Beijing Institute of Foreign Languages (now Beijing Foreign Studies University). He became an interpreter with the United Nations Office in Geneva in June 1981 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in March 1987, where he has taken positions successively as Deputy Division Director, Division Director, Counsellor, Deputy Director-General and Director-General. He served as Counsellor in the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations from August 1995 to August 1998 and was appointed Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs in December 2007. He assumed the office of Vice-Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee in May 2009.
