Wang Jiarui meets Trinidad & Tobago Guests

  Beijing, July 17¡ªMinister Wang Jiarui of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met here today with the delegation of the Congress of the People (COP) of Trinidad & Tobago headed by COP political leader Mr. Winston Dookeran.

  Wang said that relations between China and Trinidad & Tobago have enjoyed sound development with ever closer cooperation in various fields, stressing that the CPC would like to conduct friendly exchanges with the COP, especially exchange of views on how to run state and party affairs with a view to further consolidating bilateral relations between the two countries.

  In response to the request of the guests, Wang talked about China¡¯s development, saying that China¡¯s success should be attributed to a correct road of development that the Chinese people have found for themselves under the leadership of the CPC, i.e. the road of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, which is suitable to China¡¯s national conditions.

  Dookeran said that friendship between Trinidad & Tobago and China has a long history and the Trinidad & Tobago people have always had a friendly sentiment towards the Chinese people. He further indicated that the COP will take this visit as a pivot to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC in all fields. He also highly appraised the remarkable achievements made in China's reform and opening-up, and reiterated COP's staunch position to adhere to the one China principle.

  Vice Minister of the International Department Chen Fengxiang was also present at the meeting.
