Wang Jiarui meets Chairman of the Free Democratic Party of Germany

  BEIJING, Aug. 20 -- Wang Jiarui, minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here with Guido Westerwelle, chairman of the Free Democratic Party of Germany (FDP) and Leader of its party group in the German parliament.

  Both sides made positive comments on the healthy, stable and comprehensive development of Sino-German relations. Wang emphasized the willingness of the CPC to continue to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the FDP and other major political parties of Germany, so as to further consolidate the foundation of Sino-German friendship. He also briefed his guests on the contents of the Scientific Outlook on Development and preparations for the 17th National Congress of the CPC.

  Westerwelle said that his party commends the outstanding performance that the CPC and China are making on the world stage. He expressed willingness to establish and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC, to write a new chapter in the history of the cooperation between the two parties, and to contribute to the future development of German-Chinese and European-Chinese relations. He also said that the FDP is happy to see Beijing host the Olympic Games and will give its full support.
