SKOPJE, Sept. 3 -- Macedonia would unswervingly adhere to One China
policy and push the friendly cooperation between the two countries in all fields
to a new level, Macedonian leaders said on Monday.
Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski and the country's Prime Minister
Nikola Gruevski expressed the same opinion when they held separate talks with a
visiting delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
"Macedonia attaches great importance to advancing bilateral relations
with China. It would unswervingly stick to its One China policy and strengthen
its friendly cooperation with China in all fields," the two leaders told the
delegation, led by Wang Jiarui, minister of the International Department of the
CPC central committee.
Wang spoke highly of the bilateral relations between the two countries
and their political parties, saying that contacts between the two countries'
political parties have become an important component in the bilateral relations.
"The Communist Party of China would like to strengthen its friendly
cooperation with Macedonian political parties to make joint efforts to push the
relationship between the two countries towards a healthy, stable and all-round
development," Wang said.
Gruevski said that the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary
Organization-Democratic Party of Macedonian National Unity (VMRO-DPMNE), which
he chairs, pays close attention to China's achievements in economic
construction.
"Our party would like to deepen the cooperation between the two parties,
and to learn from the experiences that the Communist Party of China has
accumulated in ruling the party and governing the country," Gruevski said.
Macedonia is the third leg on the delegation's five-country tour in Asia
and Europe. They came to Macedonia after visits to Tajikistan and Georgia. The
trip will also take them to Albania and Turkmenistan.
