Lao leader meets with Yu Zhengsheng

  Bangkok, Sept. 10 -- Choummali Saignason, General Secretary of the Central Committee of Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos today met in Vientiane with a Communist Party of China (CPC) delegation headed by Yu Zhengsheng, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of CPC Hubei provincial committee. Both sides conducted sincere and friendly discussions.

  Choummali expressed his warm welcome to Yu's delegation. He believed that such a visit would have positive influence on the friendship between Laos and China. Yu Zhengsheng conveyed the sincere greetings to Choummali from General Secretary Hu Jintao and other Chinese leaders. Choummali expressed his appreciation and asked Yu to bring back his best wishes and greetings to Hu Jintao, General Secretary of CPC and President of China, as well as to other leaders of the CPC and the Chinese government.

  Choummali spoke highly of the Lao-Chinese relationship. He said that profound traditional friendship exists between the LPRP and the CPC as well as between Laos and China. The two countries share similarities in their national conditions, and both are faced with the tasks to develop economy and improve people's living standards. He expressed the hope that the two sides enhance exchanges, learn from each other, expand cooperation and achieve common development.

  Yu said that the cooperation between the CPC and the LPRP in all areas is growing, with frequent exchanges of high-level visits and reinforced coordination and support for each other in international affairs. This relationship not only conforms to the fundamental interests of both peoples, but is also conducive to stability and development of the region.

  Yu stressed that the CPC, the government and people of China value the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between China and Laos, and expressed the will to further the exchanges of experience on governance between the two parties and two countries, to learn from each other's successful experience and practice, so as to make contribution to the reform or innovation causes of their respective countries.

  Yu and his delegation started their official goodwill visit to Laos on 10th at the invitation of the LPRP.
