CPV General Secretary Nong Duc Manh meets with Yu Zhengsheng

  HANOI, Sept. 13 -- General Secretary Nong Duc Manh of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) today met and had a cordial discussion with the visiting CPC delegation headed by Yu Zhengsheng, party secretary of Hubei Provincial Committee of the CPC and member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

  Nong Duc Manh said, the Vietnamese side is glad to see that under the guidance of the principles of ˇ°long-term stability, future-orientation, good neighborly friendship and overall cooperationˇ±, new progress has been made in the Vietnam-China friendly relations, which were fostered by Mao Zedong and Ho Chi Minh, the old generation of leaders. At the same time, exchanges and cooperation between the two parties and two countries have been continuously expanded in depth and breadth.

  He stressed that deepening friendship between Vietnam and China conforms to the fundamental interests and common aspiration of the Vietnamese and Chinese people. The CPV and Vietnamese government place high importance to promoting friendship between the two sides, and will continue to enhance the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and China according to the above-mentioned principles so as to make the two countries good neighbors, friends, comrades and partners.

  Yu Zhengsheng said that recent years have witnessed a sound momentum of development in the inter-party and inter-state relations of China and Vietnam. Deepening traditional friendship and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation is the need of both sides as well as the common aspiration of both peoples. The CPC and Chinese government always value the China-Vietnam relations, and would like to join hands with Vietnamese side to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by top leaders of both sides to elevate the bilateral relations to a new level and carry forward the traditional friendship between the two countries and two peoples under the guidance of the set principles so as to ensure that China and Vietnam will always be good neighbors, friends, comrades and partners.

  In the afternoon, Yu Zhengsheng also held discussions with Member of the Political Bureau of the CPV Central Committee and party secretary of Hanoi CPV committee Pham Quang Nghi. Both sides briefed each other about the development of their countries, and exchanged views in a candid manner on the China-Vietnam relations, international and regional situation and other questions of common interests.

  The CPC delegation arrived in Vietnam on September 12 for a good-will visit at the invitation of the CPV.
