BEIJING, Sept. 18 -- Senior official of the Communist Party of China
(CPC) Wu Guanzheng met with Jiri Paroubek, chairman of the Czech Social
Democratic Party (ČSSD) here on Tuesday, both voicing wishes to strengthen
bilateral relations.
Wu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC
Central Committee, said the two nations and two peoples enjoy long-time
traditional friendship. Continuous progress has been made in cooperation in
economic, political, cultural, science and technology, education and tourism
fields in recent years.
"The CPC and the Chinese Government always attach importance to relations
with the Czech Republic and would like to work with the Czech side to further
promote their friendly relations," Wu said.
Wu spoke positively on the relations between the CPC and the ČSSD and
said that the CPC would like to further exchanges and cooperation with the ČSSD
and continue to play an active role in boosting relations between the two
countries.
Wu also briefed the guests on China's domestic situation and the CPC's
upcoming 17th national congress.
Paroubek said that China is the Czech Republic's most important partner
in Asia.
Paroubek, who once served as prime minister, said the ČSSD values its
ties with the CPC and is willing to expand bilateral exchanges and cooperation
in various fields and further promote relations between the two countries.
