BEIJING, Oct. 21 -- More parties and their leaders from around the world
continued to send congratulatory messages to the 17th National Congress of the
Communist Party of China (CPC).
Demetris Christofias, general secretary of the Central Committee of the
Progressive Party of the Working People of Cyprus, said in his message that the
congress of the Communist Party of China is the most significant political event
in China and constitutes a valuable occasion of assessment and planning ahead.
Fernando Lasama de Araujo, president of the Democratic Party of East
Timor and speaker of the National Parliament, extended his congratulations in a
message on the opening of the congress and expressed hope that the friendship
between the two parties will keep developing in an in-depth way.
He also expressed admiration that the 17th Congress of the CPC puts
special emphasis on continuously promoting world peace and development and
making concerted efforts with other countries to contribute to a more harmonious
and prosperous world.
Fransisco Guterres Lu-Olo, president of the Revolutionary Front of
Independent East Timor, applauded the goals raised at the congress to implement
the Scientific Outlook on Development, further emancipate the mind, stick to the
policy of reform and opening up, promote scientific development and social
harmony and comprehensively build a well-off society.
He spoke highly of the new idea of comprehensively building a well-off
society, saying the goal demonstrates the wisdom and determination of the CPC.
The president also wished a success of the CPC in achieving its goals set
forth at the national congress.
Sam Nujoma, president of Namibia's SWAPO Party, said in his message that
the SWAPO Party and the CPC enjoy strong ties of friendship and solidarity.
Since Namibia gained independence, the two parties have continued to work
together and consolidate their ties of friendship which has been translated into
mutual and beneficial bilateral relations between the two countries and two
peoples.
He expressed the hope that resolutions adopted by the CPC congress would
add more impetus to the consolidation and strengthening of bonds of solidarity
between the SWAPO Party and the CPC.
In its message, the Secretariat of the Unity Party of Liberia said the
party has been following China's development closely, and is very pleased to
note the tremendous progress and development being enjoyed by the Chinese people
under the able and far-sighted leadership of CPC.
The message said the Unity Party will strive to further strengthen and
cement the cordial ties between the two parties, governments and peoples.
It reaffirmed the party's commitment to the one-China policy, pledging
all efforts to uphold and strengthen this policy, which it views as a cardinal
basis for the flourishing relationship between the two parties.
In his message, Nana Ohene-Ntow, general secretary of the New Patriotic
Party of Ghana, expressed his party's admiration of the economic development,
social advancement and technological strides that China has achieved under the
CPC's leadership.
He said that Ghana, as a developing country, is proud of China's
achievement, and that the New Patriotic Party is willing to form ties of
cooperation with the CPC.
Yussuf Rajab Makamba, secretary general of Tanzania's Chama Cha Mapinduzi
(CCM) party, extended sincere congratulations to the CPC on its 17th National
Congress.
He said the CCM and the CPC have enjoyed long and fraternal relationship
which was forged by the two parties' veteran leaders such as Chairman Mao Zedong
and Julius K. Nyerere. The CCM will always cherish the profound friendship
between the two parties.
In his message, Jeremie Ngendakumana, president of the National Council
for Defense of the Democracy -- Force for Defense of the Democracy in Burundi,
said his party is very pleased with its cooperation with the CPC, and it hopes
the relationship could be reinforced in the interest of the two parties.
Ambroise Edouard Noumazalay, general secretary of the Congolese Labor
Party, said the path the Chinese people have chosen under the leadership of the
CPC has won the admiration of both developed and developing countries. He said
his party believes that after the CPC's 17th congress, China will accomplish
greater achievements in its building of a harmonious society, and that the ties
between the two parties will be continuously strengthened.
Vesa Gomes Naluak, acting president of the Social Renovation Party of
Guinea-Bissau, said in a message that his party will always be a firm and close
partner to the CPC and the Chinese people in their process of building a fairer
and more prosperous society.
He said developing friendly cooperation with the CPC and the Chinese
government will always be a high priority for the Social Renovation Party. He
added that the party will always support and help maintain a great, unified and
inseparable Chinese nation.
Ismail Alaoui, general secretary of the Party of Progress and Socialism
of Morocco, said in his message that the current CPC congress will become a new
milestone when the CPC is striving to build socialism with Chinese
characteristics by implementing a policy of reform and opening up and combining
the fundamental principles of socialism with China's realities and the features
of the times.
Alaoui reiterated his party's commitment to further enhance its friendly
relations with the CPC and promote cooperation between the two countries and the
friendship between the two peoples.
In his message, Blade Nzimande, general secretary of the South African
Communist Party, said his party eagerly awaits positive outcomes from the CPC
congress, and wishes that the CPC will continue to apply in an innovative manner
scientific theories in resolving problems that crop up in its endeavor to build
socialism with Chinese characteristics.
"We are certain that a whole chapter that stands on the side of
revolutionary progress will derive important observations for its national
scenarios," Nzimande said.
Jacopo Venier, international secretary of the Party of the Italian
Communists, said the congress is of great significance as China is playing a
more important role on the world stage.
The Chinese people have made marvelous progress in recent years and are
making more achievements, Venier said, adding that the creative efforts China
has made to change the political and economic structure of the world is of
positive significance to those people who believe in world peace and justice.
Venier said the 2008 Beijing Olympics, a great event through which the
world will gain a better understanding about China, is expected to be one of the
most successful.
David Kirkitadze, general secretary of the United National Movement of
Georgia, expressed the earnest hope that the CPC will accomplish the tasks the
congress has set, saying that the friendship between the two parties will
undoubtedly facilitate friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Stephen P. Pokawin, secretary general of the National Alliance Party of
Papua New Guinea, said in his message that that his party and the CPC have
worked together over the past five years to promote their mutual interests by
way of fruitful exchanges and cooperation.
He said the National Alliance Party will continue to learn from the way
the CPC conducts its affairs as a political party.
Pokawin said the convening of the CPC's 17th National Congress
demonstrates the functioning of the political progress that has enabled China to
grow stronger and stronger in the face of enormous challenges brought about by
both internal as well as external dynamics.
In his message, Muhiddin Kabiri, chairman of the Party of Islamic Revival
of Tajikistan, said China has made great achievements under the leadership of
the CPC, and that his party sincerely hopes that the CPC will continue to lead
the Chinese people to make more glorious achievements.
Kabiri said his party has established friendly ties with the CPC since it
was founded, and hopes the relations could be further deepened and consolidated.
Carlos Lupi, chairman of Brazil Democratic Worker's Party, said in his
message that the resolutions passed at the CPC congress will produce
far-reaching influence the world over.
Under the guidance of the new-elected CPC leadership, the Chinese people
will embark on a broad road of socialism with Chinese characteristics, he said.
Aldo Rebelo, former president of Brazil's Chamber of Deputies and vice
chairman of Communist Party of Brazil, said that a strong China is very crucial
to constructing a fair, balanced and peaceful world.
