BEIJING, Oct. 25 -- More leaders of foreign countries
or parties have sent messages to Chinese President Hu Jintao to congratulate him
on his reelection as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
In his message, Egyptian President and Chairman of the National Democratic Party
Hosni Mubarak said Hu's reelection reflects Chinese people's trust in Hu's
leadership and his achievements as Chinese president and leader of the CPC.
"I wish...the friendly Chinese people ever more progress and prosperity,"
Mubarak said.
Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir, who is also chairman of the National Congress
party, extended his congratulations to Hu and other members elected into the
Political Bureau Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee, saying Sudan
treasures and admires the experience and practice gained by the CPC in leading
China's development.
In his message, Nursultan Nazarbayev, president of Kazakhstan and chairman of
the Nur Otan party, applauded China's great achievements in improving people's
livelihood and economic reforms.
Mahmoud Abbas, chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation
Organization and president of the Palestinian National Authority, extended warm
felicitations on Hu's reelection.
Hu's reelection is a manifestation that he enjoys the confidence and respect of
the party and the Chinese people, Abbas said.
French Senate President Christian Poncelet also offered congratulations on Hu's
reelection, saying China is undergoing profound changes and rapid development,
and wishing Hu every success in his new tenure.
Jose De Venecia, president of the LAKAS-CMD party of the Philippines and speaker
of the House of Representatives offered "his compliments" on Hu's reelection.
He expressed the confidence that under Hu's leadership, China "will continue to
exert positive influence on regional and global developments."
For his part, President of Zanzibar and Vice-Chairman of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi
(CCM) party Amani Abeid Karume wished the CPC greater success and achievements
in serving the people, saying he believed the friendly cooperation between the
two countries will be continuously lifted to a new height.
Deva Virahsawmy, general secretary of Mauritius Labor Party, said his party is
confident that under the leadership of Hu, the CPC will continue to make efforts
to safeguard national stability, promote national unity, support the
disadvantaged group and maintain political and economic rights of the people.
A. Sikhosana, chairman of Zimbabwe-China Friendship Association and member of
the political bureau of Zimbabwe African National Union (Patriotic Front),
congratulated the CPC in a message on the resounding success of the 17th
National Congress and the reelection of Hu as the CPC chief.
He called the Congress another milestone in the CPC's efforts to map out
strategies for China's full economic development.
Brazilian Workers' Party chairman Ricardo Berzoimi and Secretary of
International Relations Walter Pomar also wished CPC's new central collective
leadership greater success.
Mauricio Mulder Bedoya, general secretary of Peru's APRA Party, said that under
Hu's leadership, the Chinese people can achieve the set goals in the future.
He wished the friendly ties between the two parties will be further enhanced and
developed.
The board of the Republican Party of Armenia said Hu's reelection reflects the
trust the whole party and Chinese people place on him.
China will continue to play an important role in international and regional
affairs, it said.
Lothar Bisky and Oskar Lafontaine, co-chairmen of the Left Party of Germany,
wished Hu greater success on the post of the CPC general secretary and expressed
their willingness to promote friendly cooperative relations with the CPC.
Ranil Wickremesinghe, leader of Sri Lanka's United National Party and leader of
the opposition in the parliament, said the 17th CPC Party Congress "will
definitely create a happier life not only to the Chinese nation but to the Asian
region in particular, and to the world at large."
Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democratic Party of Thailand, congratulated Hu,
saying the CPC will lead China towards more progress and will play a
constructive role in achieving world peace and prosperity.
Shii Kazuo, leader of the Communist Party of Japan, said that under the new
central collective leadership, the CPC will make greater contributions to
China's development and safeguarding peace in Asia and the world as a whole.
