Wang Jiarui meets with Former LDP Secretary-General

BEIJING, Oct. 26 -- Minister Wang Jiarui of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met here today with Hidenao Nakagawa, former Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan.

Wang Jiarui spoke positively of the sound momentum in China-Japan relations and the role of the close communications between political parties and politicians of both countries in promoting relations. He commended old friends like Hidenao Nakagawa who have actively dedicated to the cause of friendship between the two countries.

The two sides had an effective trade of opinions on further strengthening cooperation in various fields and deepening the existing China-Japan Ruling Parties Exchange Mechanism. Both agreed that the first and the second meetings of the Mechanism have played a positive role at crucial stages of China-Japan relations and therefore are both willing to keep in close consultation with each other and to make this Mechanism more substantive and effective.

Nakagawa said he will commit relentless efforts to the improvement and development of Japan-China relations.
