VIENTIANE, Nov. 2 -- A high-ranking Communist Party of China (CPC)
official assured the top Lao leader here on Friday that China and Laos will
maintain "good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners."
Secretary General of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President
of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Choummaly Saygnasone on Friday met with
Liu Yunshan , member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee who is
visiting Laos, assured the Chinese official of Laos' support for the new CPC
leadership and wish to further promoting good ties between the two parties and
two countries.
Liu, who is also member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head
of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, told Choummaly that
the new leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Hu Jintao as general
secretary and the Chinese government will continue the long-time efforts to
develop the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two
countries.
Choummaly asked Liu to convey his good wishes and congratulations to his Chinese
counterpart Hu Jintao on Hu's being re-elected as the CPC general secretary at
the recently concluded 17th National Congress of the CPC.
Choummaly said Hu's re-election has reflected the great trust of CPC members and
Chinese people as a whole on the leader.
The Lao government and the LPRP believe that, under the current leadership of
the CPC, the Chinese people will make impressive progress in realizing targets
set in the 17th CPC National Congress.
The Lao leader also expressed his country's staunch support for China's cause of
building socialism with Chinese characteristics, and also for China's efforts
for national reunification.
Laos will, along with China, save no efforts in further promoting the good ties
between the two countries, he said.
Liu arrived in Vientiane Thursday to start a two-day visit to Laos. On Thursday,
Liu met with Laos' deputy prime minister and member of the LPRP Political Bureau
Thongloun Sisoulith. Liu informed Thongloun about the 17th National Congress of
the CPC.
Liu later also met with Lao deputy president and LPRP Political Bureau member
Boung Nang Vorachi and exchanged views with him on how to strengthen bilateral
relations between the CPC and the LPRP.
Laos is the last stop of Liu's tour of three countries that started Monday. Liu
has already visited the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Socialist
Republic of Vietnam.
Liu paid the visit on the invitation of the Workers' Party of Korea, the
Communist Party of Vietnam and Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
