New Zealand PM meets with CPC representative Zang Xianfu

Auckland Nov. 3 -- Helen Clark, leader of the New Zealand Labor Party (NZLP) and Prime Minister of New Zealand, met with CPC representative Zang Xianfu and his delegation on November 3.

Clark extended congratulations on the successful convening of the Seventeenth National Congress of the CPC. She said New Zealand has come in first place among developed countries in three steps of trade cooperation with China, namely, the first to sign the bilateral market access agreement on China¡¯s accession to the World Trade Organization, the first to recognize China¡¯s market economy status, and the first to start FTA negations with China. She said that New Zealand is also expecting to become the first country to complete FTA negotiations with China.

Zang conveyed to her greetings from General Secretary Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao and expressed appreciation of the Clark government for its efforts in developing China-New Zealand relations.

Zang, Member of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee and Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Commission for Discipline Inspection is in New Zealand at the invitation of the NZLP to attend the Party¡¯s annual conference which was opened on November 2. On November 3, Zang had a meeting with NZLP President Mike Williams after presenting the congratulatory letter of the CPC Central Committee to the NZLP annual conference.
