Malaysian Leader meets with CPC Representative

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 8 -- Prime Minister of Malaysia and President of the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) Abdullah Badawi met in the Malaysian capital today with Zang Xianfu, member of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee, and Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Commission for Discipline Inspection, who is here to attend the 2007 party congress of UMNO on behalf of the CPC.

Badawi began by extending congratulations on the success of the 17th CPC National Congress, and said that China is a very close friend of Malaysia and that the two countries enjoy close contacts at political, economic and cultural levels. He wished China greater achievements in its development under the new collective leadership of the CPC, and affirmed the commitment of the Malaysian government and of himself to promoting the continuous in-depth development of relations with China.

The Prime Minister also asked Mr. Zang to convey his cordial greetings to Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao.

The Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and UMNO Deputy President Najib Razak also met with Zang on the same day.

Zang arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday night upon invitation to observe the 2007 party congress of UMNO. During his visit, he presented to Prime Minister Badawi the congratulatory message of the CPC Central Committee to UMNO.
