Mexico City, Nov. 16th -- Mexican President Calder車n met this morning with Wang
Zhaoguo, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice
Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.
Wang first conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from President Hu Jintao
to President Calder車n and expressed sympathy and solicitude for the people of
flood-stricken areas in Mexico. Wang said that over the past 35 years since the
establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico, friendly
cooperation in various fields has constantly expanded, pushing bilateral
relations to a new height. He said that China-Mexico friendship conforms to the
fundamental interests of both peoples. Always viewing and developing
China-Mexico relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, China stands
ready to make joint efforts with Mexico to push the strategic partnership
between the two countries to develop in a more comprehensive and in-depth
manner. Wang expressed appreciation of Mexico for upholding the one-China
policy. During the meeting, Wang also gave a briefing on the Seventeenth
National Congress of the CPC.
Calder車n extended warm welcome to Wang and asked him to convey his cordial
greetings and best wishes to President Hu Jintao. Calder車n said that given the
strategic significance of Mexico-China relations, Mexico attaches great
importance to developing long-term and friendly relations with China and is
ready to strengthen cooperation in various areas and coordinate with China more
closely on major international issues. Calder車n said that the tremendous
achievements in China's efforts of building Socialism with Chinese
characteristics are admirable, which offer rich experiences for Mexico to learn
from. He believed that the achievements of the Seventeenth Party Congress will
further ensure China's long-term stability and harmonious development. Calder車n
also reaffirmed Mexico's commitment to the one-China policy.

On the same day, Wang had a meeting with Secretary General Espina of the
National Action Party of Mexico. The two sides had in-depth exchange of views on
further strengthening their inter-party relations, agreeing that the two Parties
will step up exchanges on governance experience and enrich the content of
exchanges so as to inject new vigor in China-Mexico relations.
