SEOUL, Nov. 27 -- Minister Wang Jiarui of the International Department of the
CPC Central Committee met here in the last two days with Oh Chung-il, chairman
of the United New Democratic Party (UNDP), Kang Jae-sup, chairman of the Grand
National Party (GNP), Moon Sung-hyun, chairman of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP)
and presidential candidates Chung Dong-young, Lee Myung-bak, Lee Hoi-chang and
Kwon Young-ghil on separate occasions. Chinese ambassador to the ROK Ning Fukui
was present at the meetings.
Wang spoke highly of the positive developments of China-ROK relations since the
two countries established diplomatic relations, emphasizing that party-to-party
exchanges are a crucial part of the bilateral ties and are significant for
enhancing mutual understanding and friendship as well as for promoting the
comprehensive and cooperative partnership between the two countries in a
deep-going manner.
Wang Jiarui expressed gratitude to the Korean political parties for
congratulating the CPC on its successful convention of the 17th National
Congress and expounded on China's independent foreign policy of peace and the
policy of friendship and partnership toward neighboring countries. He said, the
CPC is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with political parties in the ROK on the principles of
"independence, complete equality, mutual respect, and
non-interference in each other's internal affairs" in an effort to promote the
comprehensive development of state-to-state relations and to play a positive
role in safeguarding peace and stability in the region as well as in the world.
The aforementioned ROK party leaders and presidential candidates, on their part,
expressed their keenness to engage in friendly exchanges with the CPC and to
join the Chinese side in boosting inter-party exchanges and promoting the
friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
The CPC delegation headed by Wang Jiarui left Seoul on 27th for Nepal.
