BEIJING, Dec. 4 -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) would like to improve
party-to-party relations with Iranian National Trust Party to promote long-term
and stable relations between the two countries, said a CPC leader here on
Tuesday.
Jia Qinglin, a member of the Standing Committee of the political Bureau of the
CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with Secretary-General
of the Iranian National Trust Party Mahdi Karroubi.
Jia, also chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political
Consultative Conference, said China and Iran had maintained frequent high-level
exchanges, and political and economic cooperation had expanded since the two
countries forged diplomatic ties in 1971.
Mahdi Karroubi said Iran valued China's role in the international arena, and
hoped to further cooperation with China in the all fields.
He said the National Trust Party supported the Iranian government and parliament
to enhance friendly relations with China and would like to develop exchanges
with the CPC.
