Wang Jiarui meets with LDP former secretary-general

BEIJING, Dec. 11 -- Minister Wang Jiarui of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met today with Hiromu Nonaka, former secretary-general of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan and honorary advisor to the China-Japan Friendship Association.

Both sides spoke positively of the good momentum in China-Japan relations. Wang expressed appreciation of Hiromu Nonaka for his long-term commitment to the cause of China-Japan friendship. He briefed the guest on the Seventeenth National Congress of the CPC. He stressed that China will stick to the road of peaceful development and will develop good-neighborliness and reciprocal cooperation with Japan and other neighboring countries in a comprehensive way. He also expressed willingness to work together with visionary people in Japan to seize current opportunities to promote the building of the strategic and reciprocal relations between the two countries.

Hiromu Nonaka said that over the past 35 years since the normalization of relations between Japan and China, important achievements have been made in friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, which has laid a solid foundation for realizing lasting friendship. He expressed his confidence in the future of Japan-China relations and his readiness to continue to work for it.
