Exhibition commemorating Deng Xiaoping to be held in HK
HONG KONG, July 20 (Xinhua) -- A large exhibition marking the
100th birth anniversary of the late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping
will be held in Hong Kong from August 26 to September 4.
The exhibition, jointly held by the Liaison Office of the
Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), HKSAR government, and other social
organizations, will show the great achievements and the whole life
of Deng Xiaoping.
In addition, a luncheon will be held to commemorate Deng
Xiaoping and three special reports will be delivered during the
exhibition.
Deng's relatives and people who had worked with Deng will come
to Hong Kong to attend those activities and share their memory
about Deng with Hong Kong people.
An official with the Liaison Office of the Central People's
Government in HKSAR said that Deng Xiaoping is the great designer
of China's opening-up and modernization drive. He is also the
initiator of the principle of "one country, two systems".
The official said that the activities are favorable to the
implementation of "one country, two systems" and the Basic Law of HKSAR, and will help Hong Kong maintain long-term stability and
prosperity.
