China attaches importance to developing ties with Cambodia,official

BEIJING, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- China attaches importance
to the growth of its relations with Cambodia, said a senior official of the
Communist Party of China (CPC) here Thursday.
He Guoqiang, a
member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks in
his meeting with Cambodian Prince Norodom Ranariddh, who is the president of the
FUNCINPEC party and the president of the Cambodian National
Assembly.
Ranariddh is here to attend the third International
Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), set to be held from Sept. 3 to
5.
He, also a member of the Secretariat and head of the
Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, said that the
Sino-Cambodian relations witnessed steady and healthy development in recent
years. "The two countries have expanded exchanges and cooperation in all areas
and made active achievements," he said.
Chinese President Hu
Jintao and the new Chinese leadership attaches importance to the
good-neighborly, friendly and cooperative ties between the two countries and the
communication among political parties of the two countries also gave an impetus
to the growth of state-to-state relations, he said.
Over 350
delegates of more than 80 political parties and organizations from 34 countries
have decided to participate in the conference.
The theme of this
year's meeting is "Exchange, Cooperation and Development," and major topics
include regional security and multilateral cooperation, economic growth and
social progress, party building and the national
development.
