Zeng Qinghong meets Japanese guest

BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice-President Zeng
Qinghong told a Japanese political leader here Friday that political parties and
statesmen of both countries should take courage to shoulder up historical
responsibility and make joint efforts for the development of Sino-Japanese
relations.
Zeng, also member of the Standing Committee of the
Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and honorary director organizing
committee of the of the Third International Conference of Asian Political
Parties (ICAPP), Zeng made the remarks during a meeting with Tetsuzo Fuwa,
chairman of the Central Committee of the Japanese Communist Party (JCP), who is
here attending the ICAPP.
Zeng said tremendous advances have been
made in Sino-Japanese relations since the normalization of bilateral relations
more than three decades ago. Currently, the relations between China and Japan
face both a "major opportunity for development" and come at a "critical
juncture," Zeng noted.
The CPC and the Chinese government have, as
always, attached great importance to the development of ties with Japan, and
hope to build a "friendly, cooperative, mutually beneficial and win-win"
relationship with Japan, he said.
The Chinese vice-president spoke
highly of JCP's positive contribution to the development of Sino-Japanese
relations.
Fuwa said the exchanges and cooperation among the Asian
political parties are of great significance to the maintenance of peace,
stability and development in both Asia and the world as a whole.
Both Japan and China should make concerted efforts to push forward the all-round
and healthy development of bilateral ties, he said.
