Asian parties' conference furthers discussion

  BEIJING, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Third International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) started full-day workshops discussion on Saturday, covering the topics of "regional security and multilateral cooperation", "economic growth and social progress" as well as "party building and the national development".

  General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese President Hu Jintao said at the welcome banquet Friday evening that China will enhance exchange and cooperation with all parties in Asian countries to create new situation of Asia's revival.

  Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong addressed the opening ceremony Friday morning.

  Delegates of over 80 parties or political organizations from 34 Asian countries participated in the conference. 

  Initiated in 2000, the ICAPP has convened its two conferences in Manila, the Philippines, in September 2000 and Bangkok, Thailand, in November 2002. 

  The theme of this year's meeting is "Exchange, Cooperation and Development".
