Wu Guanzheng meets Nepalese guests

   BEIJING, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese official Wu Guanzheng met here on Saturday with guests from Nepal, who are here attending the third International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP).

  China attached great importance to developing relations with Nepal and is willing to make joint efforts with the Nepalese side to prompt bilateral ties to develop faster and better, said Wu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

  While appraising the relations between Chinese and Nepalese parties, Wu noted that the CPC will, as always, boost ties with every Nepalese political party and make new contribution in pushing forward the relations between the two countries. 

  During the meeting, Madhav Kumar Nepal, general secretary of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), said the Nepalese people regarded Chinese people as trustworthy friends and the relations between the two  countries are good.

  Both the Nepalese government and people always trust and support China, and hope to see a stable, strong and unified China.Nepal adheres to the one-China policy and regard Taiwan and Tibet as inalienable parts of China, he added.

  Pashupati Shumshere JBR, president of the National Democratic Party, said his party is ready to advance the traditional friendship between Nepal and China, and hopes to deepen the friendly and cooperative ties with the CPC.

  Sushil Kirala, general secretary of the Nepali Congress Party, said his party cherishes the friendship between the two countries and two peoples. Kirala also expressed gratitude toward China for its support and assistance to Nepal.

  Minendra Rijal, a senior official of the Nepali Congress (Democratic), said his party will continue to pursue the one-China policy.

  The current ICAPP, whose theme is Exchange, Cooperation and Development, is the first of its kind hosted by the CPC. More than 350 delegates from 34 countries attended the meeting held from Sept. 3 to 5.

  Initiated in the year 2000, the first two ICAPP conferences were held in the Philippines in September 2000 and Thailand in November 2002, respectively.
