Dear friends,

Chairman and members of the Organizing Committee of the 3rd International Conference of Asian Political Parties,

Dear friends representing the friendly Asian political parties, participating in this Conference,

First of all, I thank the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the members of the Organizing Committee for inviting us to participate in the deliberations of this Conference, convening in the land of the friendly People’s Republic of China.

I avail myself of this opportunity to express to you, on behalf of the leadership of the Baath Arab Socialist Party in the Syrian Arab Republic and on my own behalf, our high appreciation for this good initiative that organizes these periodic meetings of the Asian political parties in order to intercommunicate in a joint work which enhances the ties among these parties, activates their roles in the march cooperation of their countries, their development, progress and advancement.

Convening this conference in the People’s Republic of China, which advanced great strides in the process of modernization and reform which it began in 1978, has its indications at this stage during which the process is successfully and continuously producing its positive results in China, the Asian continent and the world.

Dear friends,

Our Conference will help cordial exchange of experiences in the fields of development, regional security and multilateral cooperation among Asian political parties. It activates constructive dialogue and discussion which aim at enhancing the means of political confidence and economic cooperation among the Asian countries, in addition to the solidification of friendship and cooperation among their parties, states and peoples, in such a way that contributes to their countries’ common understanding for maintaining peace, security, stability and the development of regional cooperation. All these form an indicator which shows the Asian continent importance and its political and economic weight in the world.

Now the Asian countries are witnessing an accelerated development process and modernization of their societies structures. Several Asian countries have become significant power that puts them ahead of the world countries who are on the road of development. They work with other countries for a world of peace, justice, prosperity, a world free from injustice, oppression, aggression and occupation.

We see that the association of the incoming issues of reform, democracy, etc. with the logic of force and dictation oversteps the methods of dealing among countries and law boundaries. It does not observe moral values and adopts double standards in order to give precedence to the private interests of hegemonist forces which aim to impose their control.

It is known that each country has its own peculiarity or characteristic and democracy is not of one type to be imposed on all. It is a principle each society should implement in a way that suit its circumstances.

The events that are taking place in Iraq are another example on wars aftermaths that neither solve problems nor combat terrorism, but they create tragic situations of chaos and lack of security and stability, now the Iraqi people suffer from. Their impacts are reflected on the region countries.

There is no way for handling these situations unless the occupation is removed, the Iraqi people restore their full true sovereignty, maintaining their unity, building their future and choosing their representatives through free elections without foreign interventions.
