Song Tao meets with Romanian Ambassador

BEIJING, March 2 – Minister Song Tao of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met today in Beijing with Doru Romulus Costea, ambassador of Romania to the People’s Republic of China.

Song said that China and Romania enjoy traditional friendship, and that Romania is a good friend and partner of China in Europe. In recent years, the relationship between the two countries has entered a fast track of development, he pointed out, recalling President Xi Jinping’s meeting with President Klaus Iohannis while attending the summits commemorating the founding of the United Nations in New York, which Song said pointed a clear direction of the development of bilateral relations. At present, China-Romania friendly cooperation is enjoying positive growth on both bilateral and multilateral levels, he observed. Song also said that political parties of China and Romania have close relations with the CPC having friendly cooperative ties with all major political parties of Romania. Further strengthening of such ties, Song concluded, is significant to enhancing mutual political trust and deepening exchange of experience on governance.

Costea said that cooperation between Romania and China in various areas is fruitful and of great potential. Developing relations with China is a consensus among Romanian political parties, he assured. The Romanian side is keen to implement agreements reached by leaders of the two countries by strengthening high-level exchanges and deepening economic, cultural and local exchanges and cooperation, and work with the Chinese side to jointly promote sustained healthy growth of Romania-China relations, he said.
