Dhaka, March 21st--Sheikh Hasina, President of the Bangladesh Awami League and Prime Minister met here today with Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Song first conveyed General Secretary Xi Jinping’s warm greetings to Hasina, and expressed that China and Bangladesh are traditional friendly close neighbors. The two countries have always enjoyed mutual understanding, trust and support on major issues concerning each other’s core interests. Since General Secretary Xi Jinping’s successful visit to Bangladesh in 2016, China-Bangladesh strategic cooperative partnership has achieved positive progress, playing an important role in promoting respective development of the two countries and maintaining regional peace and stability. As ruling parties, both the CPC and the Bangladesh Awami League shoulder the historic mission to develop economy and improve people’s livelihood. The CPC is willing to comprehensively elevate the relationship between the two ruling parties, increase political mutual trust between the two countries, and push the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative by China and Bangladesh for more fruitful outcomes to earnestly give play to the guiding role of the exchanges between the two ruling parties in China-Bangladesh relations.

Hasina asked Song Tao to convey her best wishes to General Secretary Xi Jinping, and expressed that the Bangladeshi side has always upheld a friendly policy towards China. Cooperation between the two countries in various fields not only benefits the two countries but also contributes to regional peace, stability and prosperity. The Bangladeshi side firmly supports the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, and expects to deepen practical cooperation between the two countries in various fields under the Belt and Road framework. The Bangladesh Awami League hopes to conduct institutional exchanges and cooperation with the CPC, learn from the CPC’s experience in party governance and state administration, promote respective national construction and facilitate the further development of Bangladesh-China friendship.

After the meeting, under the witness of Hasina, Song Tao and Shammi Ahmed, International Affairs Secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League, on behalf of respective Parties, signed the memorandum of understanding on exchanges and cooperation between the CPC and the Bangladesh Awami League.
